Asset Accounting

Manage assets transparently and value them securely

Machines, equipment, and other assets shape the assets of a construction company. The asset accounting in BDS Baupaket V5 traces their entire lifecycle comprehensibly – from acquisition and capitalization through depreciation and changes to disposal.

Because the module interacts directly with financial accounting and cost accounting, relevant data flows on without unnecessary duplicate entry. Flexible valuation and depreciation options, detailed movement records, and automated processes create a reliable foundation for accounting, cost control, and planning.

Overview of Functions

Flexible valuation and legally compliant depreciation

Four depreciation variants can be managed in parallel and evaluated separately – for example according to tax law, commercial law, IAS or IFRS, US-GAAP, or as imputed depreciation. Country-specific depreciation rules, among others for Austria, Germany, and the Czech Republic, support the respective requirements.

  • Forecast calculations for forward-looking planning of depreciation
  • Calendar year, differing fiscal year, and short fiscal year
  • Special depreciation and transfer of hidden reserves
  • Management of subsidies for a transparent financial overview
  • Support of quantity-based equipment for detailed inventory management

Master Data and Asset Lifecycle Under Control

The asset master record consolidates all relevant master information; the production costs are tracked completely through movements, separately from this. Acquisition and commissioning dates can be distinguished, screen layouts can be adapted to company-specific data, and a simple initial adoption facilitates implementation.

  • Seamless management of partial acquisitions and partial disposals with automatic formation of sub-sets
  • Calculation of remaining useful life with proposals for partial acquisitions
  • Separate evaluations for the four simultaneously maintained depreciation types

Fully document movements

Movements can be recorded manually or automatically – comparable to postings on a fixed asset account. Data from financial accounting in BDS Baupaket V5 can be automatically adopted. This ensures that manufacturing costs and changes of an asset remain consistently traceable.

  • Additions: Determination of the acquisition value from the posting amounts
  • Partial additions: Automatic suggestions according to country-specific rules
  • Disposals: Retirement of fixed assets during the reorganization of the fiscal year
  • Partial disposals: Separate documentation of retired parts of a fixed asset
  • Overwrites: Adjustment of depreciation parameters, for example for special depreciation
  • Transfers: Assignment to other balance sheet accounts
  • Write-ups: Changes due to external audits
  • Valuations: Revaluation according to IFRS including management of reserves
  • Special depreciations: Implementation of country-specific benefits

Integrated in Financial Accounting and Cost Accounting

The interfaces within the BDS Baupaket V5 make asset accounting an integral part of financial management. Postings to asset accounts are automatically adopted and can be supplemented or split for the activation of multiple fixed assets.

  • Cost Accounting: Inclusion of imputed depreciation and interest – optionally by cost center as either accrual or definitive posting
  • Equipment Profitability: direct comparison of received equipment rentals with imputed depreciation
  • Other Modules: diverse interfaces for seamless use of asset data

In this way, asset accounting combines precise, automated, and legally compliant management of fixed assets with the financial and cost information that construction companies need for their daily management.
